  Birth and death dates viz Stern book. Needs more research to correct. Anne Joseph: a. He fathered 12 or 13 children. Anne Joseph: CONFLICTING BIRTH AND DEATH DATES:- The Jewish Encyclopaedia gives Samuel Pereira Mendes' birth and death dates as 1775-1838. Malcolm Stern gives the birth date as 1772, and the death date as October 28, 1834 in Jamaica. As for his father, David, there is no mention of Samuel's tombstone in Barnett and Wright's Jews of Jamaica: Tombstone Inscriptions 1663-1880. See notes for David Pereira Mendes for more on this.
